Get your own transportation, and make sure you have an international driver’s license to do so. Public transportation is not yet as extensive in Taiwan as it is in many places around Asia. Most legit car rentals require an international driver’s license, you can rent motorbikes without one in some areas but it really is helpful to have a car that you can take all over the island.
